Corr Steel Fabricators is seeking a skilled and motivated Machine Operator – CNC Plasma Operator to join our growing fabrication team in Barrie, Ontario.
This role is ideal for someone with experience operating CNC cutting equipment in a structural steel or metal fabrication environment who takes pride in precision, production quality, and maintaining efficient workflow. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting fabrication operations through machine setup, programming, material handling, quality control, inventory management, and shipping/receiving activities.
What You'll Do:
CNC Plasma Operations (Primary Focus)
- Set up, program, and operate CNC Plasma cutting equipment + systems safely and efficiently.
- Interpret shop drawings, production schedules, cut files, and work orders to manufacture components accurately.
- Optimize machine performance to maximize throughput and minimize waste.
- Monitor cutting quality and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and material integrity.
- Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections to ensure parts meet quality and tolerance requirements.
- Troubleshoot machine issues and coordinate corrective action where required.
- Maintain proper material identification and heat number traceability throughout production.
Additional Machine Operations
- Set up and operate additional production equipment including:
- Girts & Purlin Roll Former
- Band Saws
- Drill Presses
- Future automated fabrication equipment as introduced
Material Handling, Inventory & Production Support
- Receive, store, and organize raw materials and production inventory.
- Track material consumption, scrap quantities, and reconcile usage against project requirements.
- Notify Purchasing of discrepancies and additional material requirements.
- Assist with inventory counts and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Support Bill of Material (BOM) verification and material availability.
Shipping & Receiving Responsibilities
- Unload incoming deliveries and inspect materials for damage, quantity, and specification accuracy.
- Cross-reference vendor shipments against purchase orders.
- Package, bundle, and prepare fabricated steel products for shipment.
- Safely load transport vehicles and ensure products are secured appropriately.
- Organize and stage materials by project for production flow.
Equipment Maintenance & Safety
- Perform routine machine maintenance and preventative maintenance schedules (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly).
- Maintain machine consumables and ensure operational readiness.
- Complete forklift inspections and basic maintenance requirements.
- Follow company safety policies and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5+ years experience operating CNC Plasma and/or CNC Laser equipment in a fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience in structural steel, metal fabrication, or manufacturing operations considered a strong asset.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and fabrication details.
- Experience with CNC programming and machine optimization.
- Familiarity with measuring tools and quality inspection procedures.
- Forklift certification considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to production quality.
- Ability to lift materials and work in an active industrial environment.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
