Position Overview
Wellchild Niagara is seeking a creative and motivated Marketing Specialist to support the development of a strong, consistent, and long-term marketing foundation for our organization.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape how Wellchild Niagara presents itself to the community by creating high-quality, reusable marketing materials and supporting strategies that will extend beyond the contract period.
The Marketing Specialist will play a key role in increasing awareness of our programs, strengthening community engagement, and ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms.
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program (pending approval).
To be eligible, applicants must:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
Be legally entitled to work in Canada
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
Key ResponsibilitiesMarketing & Content Creation
Develop and schedule content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
Create evergreen marketing materials such as templates, posters, and digital graphics
Support storytelling that highlights programs, impact, and community engagement
Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communications
Digital & Brand Support
Assist with website updates and content development
Support creation of promotional materials for camps and programs
Capture and organize photos and media (with consent)
Help build and maintain Wellchild Niagara’s visual identity
Community Engagement
Support outreach and promotional efforts to increase awareness of programs
Assist with campaigns for registration periods and seasonal programming
Contribute to strengthening community partnerships and visibility in Niagara
Administration & Coordination
Maintain content calendars and marketing organization systems
Track basic engagement and reach metrics
Participate in team meetings and marketing planning discussions
Skill Development & Learning Outcomes
This role offers hands-on experience in:
Nonprofit marketing and brand development
Social media management and digital content creation
Graphic design and communications strategy
Building a long-term marketing toolkit for organizational use
Project coordination and creative planning
Ongoing supervision and mentorship will be provided throughout the contract.
Qualifications
Interest or experience in marketing, communications, or media
Familiarity with social media platforms
Basic Canva or design tool experience
Strong written communication skills
Interest in community programming or nonprofit work
Ability to work independently and manage tasks
Assets
Experience with photography, videography, or branding
Experience with email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp)
Familiarity with website platforms (Wix, Squarespace, etc.)
Experience in community or youth-focused environments
