Guidance Counselor
Nature of the job: Part-time, Contractual Basis - Determinate Period
Field of Activities:
Under the authority of the Mohawk Council of Kanesatake and in collaboration with the Kanehsatà:ke Education Center. Under the direct supervision of the School Principal, the Guidance Counselor is responsible for providing assistance, advice and guidance as well as evaluating the psychological functioning, personal resources and environmental conditions of students in the youth and adult sectors.
He or she participates in developing and maintaining active adaptation strategies in order to enable students to make personal and professional choices suited to their personal characteristics and to their environment, while on their educational path. * Job Description Available Upon Request
Prerequisites:
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, career development, education, or social sciences.
- Master’s degree in counseling psychology or related fields such as educational psychology.
- Be a member of the ‘Ordre des conseillers et conseillères d’orientation du Québec’.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with students at both high-school and post-secondary levels.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills in English and French, Kanien’keha is considered an asset.
- Culturally sensitive and knowledgeable of the community of Kanehsatà:ke.
Salary: According to the Quebec Treasury Board Salary Scales;
