The Alberta Children’s Hospital is currently looking for a Casual Registered Dental Assistant. The successful candidate will work as part of the Dental Clinic at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, which provides comprehensive pediatric dental care to children with medical complexities within the city of Calgary and surrounding areas. The Alberta Children’s Hospital is a bright modern, family centered facility that is a cornerstone for quality care and research for the children of Calgary and southern Alberta. The ACH dental clinic sees on average 3000 children each year, who would otherwise likely not be able to receive good dental care. The clinic consists of Dentists, Dental Hygienists and Dental Assistants who work collaboratively to support patients within the clinic as well as provide support for identified inpatient dental needs. The clinic also works collaboratively with community dental partners to facilitate patient transitions to community dental care.
As a Dental Assistant, you will receive and prepare patients for treatment. You will prepare instruments and materials required, perform intra-oral procedures and chair-side assistance during dental procedures. You will maintain cleanliness of the dental area and perform routine maintenance. You will also provide oral health treatment and education to patients. You may perform billing and pre-authorization of insurance claims and participate in the development of educational resource materials. You will maintain dental charts, records and databases.
