POSITION: Residential Group Home Worker for- Mental Health
STATUS: Casual
LOCATION: Old Fort George Region (Exact address given at interview due to privacy)
RATE OF PAY:
Per collective agreement – see wage grid 26.83 -29.76
Dependent upon status and seniority

POSITION FUNCTION
- Employees in this position work under the direction the program manager or assistant manager. They are required to perform support care tasks of everyday life, assessment, documentation, and evaluation in keeping with the needs and goals of individuals served.
- They promote and perform positive behavioural management, direct and indirect care, social skills enhancement, recreational and work readiness skills, always focusing on meeting the required needs, building on strengths and empowering individuals within the residence.
- Support with personal and house chores and maintenance is an expectation. The employee provides input into the continuous quality improvement process as required. Must work effectively with all individuals and their stakeholders.
EDUCATION, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE
- One-year certificate or equivalent in related mental health / social service field with an emphasis on community living and psychosocial rehabilitation
- One-year recent related experience in community living. Exhibits a healthy attitude towards interpersonal communication, team building and is aware of position as a positive role model.
- Demonstrated ability in written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in Behaviour Management. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the client population. Demonstrated performance and ability in required position.
- Meets applicable Ministry legislation and regulations (e.g. Community Care and Assisted Living Act and applicable regulations) and agency policies.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
1. Valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current/clear driver’s abstract.
2. Valid First Aid and CPR Certificates
3. Food Safe or Food Safety Certificate
4. Current and negative Mantoux (TB) test
5. Valid, current and clear Criminal Record Check completed by CRRA*
6. Good general health and physically able to perform the duties of the job.

8. Signed statement acknowledging that you have read and understood the agency abuse policy
9. Signed statement acknowledging that you have read and understood the agency anti-bullying policy
10. Extra qualifications required for position - Open and willingness to learn, ability to adapt to quick changing situations, ability to be accountable in asking questions to assist in own learning, as this is a safe space for learning and teaching.
SHIFT SCHEDULE: Days 0800-1600 Afternoons 1600-0000 Nights 0000-0800
7.5-8 hour shifts (all shifts) as posted/rotating schedule, Including statutory holidays
Casuals - Have no set schedule - pick up shifts based on availability and seniority
