Eli's Place is opening Canada's first long-term residential therapeutic community for young adults living with serious mental illness, on a 600-acre working farm north of Guelph. We're building a founding clinical team, and the Clinician helps Guests rebuild the daily routines, life skills and occupational participation that support recovery.
Working within the Occupational Therapist scope of practice, the Clinician practises autonomously as a core member of the interdisciplinary clinical team, delivering therapeutic programming and individual care from within the daily life of the community. You'll work closely with the Clinical Director, the Nurse Practitioner, the consulting Psychiatrist and Guest services staff, and alongside Guests' families. As a founding hire, you'll help establish the functional assessment process, daily living and life skills programming, and family programming that define clinical care at Eli's Place.
The role reports to the Clinical Director. It's full-time and on site, and because care here is delivered alongside Guests it can't be done remotely. The schedule follows clinical and program needs and may include evenings and weekends.
What you'll do
- Provide individual and group therapy and functional and occupational assessments within scope of practice
- Deliver therapeutic programming focused on daily living, life skills and occupational participation
- Support Guests in building routines, work skills and community reintegration capacity
- Apply relevant occupational therapy models, such as COTIPP or MOHO, across the full practice process from assessment to discharge
- Contribute to treatment planning and progress reviews, and design and implement family programming
- Support discharge and transition planning, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and help establish programming and assessment practices through pre-launch and early operations
What we're looking for
- A Master's degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
- Current professional liability protection appropriate to the role
- At least two years of clinical experience in a mental health setting
- Experience applying the full occupational therapy practice process, from functional assessment through to treatment and discharge
- Experience applying relevant occupational therapy models, such as COTIPP or MOHO
- Experience working with people living with serious mental illness is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation, recovery principles and concurrent or addiction issues is an asset
- Strong communication with Guests, families and the clinical team
Compensation and benefits
This role sits in Band C2 of our clinician structure, with a salary range of $78,000 to $96,000, based on experience and qualifications. College registration fees are paid by the organization where registration is a condition of employment.
This is a small founding team building something that has never existed in Canada, on a working farm where the daily environment is unlike anything an institutional or urban clinical setting can offer. For the right person, that context is as much a part of the offer as the salary.
