We are currently seeking an experienced Meat Cutter to join our Fresh Meat department.
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Meat Cutter is responsible for the precise and accurate cutting, trimming, and preparation of meat products in accordance with company specifications and quality standards.
**Due to the intricate nature of this role and specialized skillset required, only qualified applicants will be considered.**
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Review and follow daily production schedules to ensure order quantities are met in an efficient and timely manner.
- Inspect raw materials for quality, defects, and product consistency.
- Maintain knife sharpness and properly care for cutting tools and equipment.
- Operate various types of production equipment and machinery such as; industrial mixers and grinders.
- Debone, trim, and prepare meat cuts and sausages according to company specifications while maximizing product yield and minimizing waste/rework.
- Perform precision cutting using industrial band saw while maintaining strict safety standards.
- Work efficiently in a high-volume production environment with strict adherence to all GMP, CFIA, and Food Safe requirements.
- Accurately record and complete daily production reports.
- Assist in cross-training and/or onboarding of department new hires.
Qualifications & Experience
- ·Completion of a Meat Cutting, Butchery, or Food Processing program
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Meat Cutter or Butcher, preferably in an industrial or wholesale setting (non-retail).
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate industrial band saws with exceptional precision.
- Proficient knife skills with experience in deboning, trimming, and preparing cuts of meat.
- Must be proficient in mathematics in order to accurately calculate amounts of ingredients and raw materials.
- Strong understanding of yield management and minimizing trim loss.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, sanitation, and food manufacturing best practices.
- Ability to maintain production speed without compromising quality, or safety.
Other Information:
- This position is non-retail, working in an active production processing facility.
- Candidate must be physically fit and able to lift 27.22 kilos (60lbs).
- Combination of pushing, pulling, standing, and walking through/working in cool, refrigerated environments (1° to 7°C).
- Attention to detail is critical. Ability to work under tight deadlines is considered an asset.
- Steel-toed footwear is required for this position.
- First Aid certification is preferred.
Shift time: (DAYS) 6:30AM-3:00PM Monday to Friday
Job Type: Permanent full-time (40 hours per week with occasional overtime if desired/required)
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
