J. Garnons Williams Ltd. is an agency that provides residential group homes and day programs for adults with both physical and developmental challenges.
We operate four group homes and two day programs in Nanaimo and Parksville. Our adult residential services provide a safe, healthy environment, emphasizing respect for each individual's differences. Our day programs offer various recreational and educational activities, focusing on fun while maintaining high standards of care, comfort, and safety. The starting wage is $27.53/hr. Wage increases per HEU Collective Agreement
The position is 37.5 average hours/week. The rotation is 4 days on, 2 days off.
After 3 months you will:
- be enrolled in a full benefit package (employer paid) and
- access paid sick
- access to banked stat time.
- Municipal Pension Plan enrollment (8.61% contribution with 9.31% employer match)
After 6 months you access paid vacation time.
Residential Care Worker Job Summary:
· To provide care and support to the clients in all aspects of personal, physical, medical, emotional, financial, social, leisure and cultural needs in a safe and comfortable manner.
· To actively participate in maintaining positive communication lines, among co - workers, managers, employer, community and other professionals.
· To have the abilities and skills necessary to work as a team player.
· To maintain the upkeep of the household and its properties including the vehicles, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
Job Requirements:
· 19 years of age or older
· Education or experience in health care or community support is an asset
· Current First Aid certificate with CPR
· Clean criminal record check (new one obtained upon hire, employer paid)
· Recent TB test (within two years)
· Hepatitis B inoculations (or waiver can be provided)
· Class 4 license mandatory, within 3 months. Employer paid.
The anticipated start date is dependent on the completion of the onboarding process. Candidates who have all required qualifications and documentation readily available may experience a faster onboarding timeline.
