We are seeking a motivated, hands-on IT Specialist to support the company's technology infrastructure, systems, and end-user support services. Reporting to the IT Manager, this role will primarily support Eastern Canadian operations and project teams while working collaboratively with the IT Manager and Western operations to ensure consistent support coverage across the organization.
This is a newly created position that offers an exciting opportunity to help shape and support the growth of the company's IT function. While the role works closely with the IT Manager, we are seeking an individual who is self-motivated, resourceful, and capable of working independently to identify issues, implement solutions, and support users across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to office and field personnel.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
- Support onboarding and offboarding activities.
- Configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
- Assist with hardware inventory, procurement, and asset lifecycle management.
- Support Microsoft 365, Outlook, SharePoint, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, ProjectSight, ADP, Concur, Procore, SiteApp Pro, Avaya phone system, and related applications.
- Support remote access technologies including VPNs, Duo Security, NetExtender, and remote desktop tools.
- Assist with cloud connectivity and field communication systems, including Starlink.
- Support user account administration, permissions, and access management.
- Assist with IT security initiatives, updates, patches, and endpoint protection.
- Support project mobilizations and site technology setups.
- Work collaboratively with the IT Manager on technology projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain documentation, procedures, and technical support records.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of progressive IT support experience.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, Outlook, SharePoint, hardware support, and mobile device management.
- Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Wi-Fi, and LAN/WAN environments) and firewall administration/troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting users in a multi-site environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the broader team.
- Ability to work occasional after-hours and weekend shifts to support system maintenance, upgrades, emergency issues, and business continuity requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting construction, engineering, industrial, or field-based operations.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, ProjectSight, and Microsoft Project.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or similar.
- Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or equivalent.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), and Single Sign On.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and security awareness.
- Experience supporting virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
- Experience with ticketing systems, IT asset management, and IT documentation platforms.
- Knowledge of cloud services and administration, including Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Experience with basic scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell.
- Previous experience supporting construction, engineering, industrial, or field-based operations.
