Position Profile: Millwright
This full‑time position is based out of our Portage la Prairie location, reporting directly to the Millwright Lead, while working closely with the Field Manager and Supervisors. The successful candidate will be a safety‑focused, mechanically skilled team player who is comfortable working in industrial and manufacturing environments, both in the shop and in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Field Manager and Supervisors, the Millwright will be expected to:
- Install, align, dismantle, and move industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and components
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings
- Work collaboratively with client maintenance staff, electricians, and operators
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Follow all Portage Iron Ltd. operating procedures
- Adhere strictly to company safety and health policies
- Contribute positively to a strong safety culture
Qualifications
Required
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs. and performing manual tasks
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
- Strong commitment to safety
Considered an Asset
- Red Seal Journeyman Millwright certification
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
- Ability to read and interpret construction, mechanical, and schematic drawings
- Experience working alongside electrical and production teams

Schedule & Work Environment
- Monday to Friday
- Full‑time, 40 hours per week
- Statutory holidays off
- Overtime: may be available depending on workload
