Driver Manager
A Driver Manager is responsible to maintain and improve good employee relations with the driver base; to resolve any problems, conflicts or concerns which may impede sound performance and employee retention, and to track performance and report any difficult problems.
Reports to: Operations Manager
Required Hours: Monday to Friday: 8am to 6pm (Half Hour Lunch)
Responsibilities:
- · Ensures that drivers receive accurate instructions and assistance, primarily through satellite communication
· Ensures that drivers/trucks are achieving utilization targets (i.e. miles and revenue) in compliance with HOS regulations
· Proactively ensure drivers are being loaded or unloaded in an efficient amount of time
· Ensure delays are proactively avoided
· Handles all driver inquiries, concerns and complaints and requests and ensures proper departments are notified
· Ensures TMS is current within 15 minutes, including processing all arrivals, check calls, departures and satellite communication responses
· Handles all driver issues – conflicts with Pre-Plan assignments, load refusals, etc.
· Process and forward all driver vacation/time off requests
· Keeps Planners and Dock Coordinator updated on drivers ETA to dock
· Forward any unresolved issues to Safety and Compliance department and/or manager
· Assists Safety & Compliance with driver expirations
· Manage weekly HOS and daily hours of work for drivers, ensuring we meet regulations and driver’s expectations
· Works closely with all operations staff to deliver and communicate consistent, high-quality service
· Manage and organize completed or uncompleted paperwork and coach as required
· Ensure drivers have adequate directions when requested
· Liaison with Maintenance any mechanical issues and ensure mechanical delay pay is properly documented and paid, if driver has followed all delay pay requirements
· Responsible for drivers on-time performance by challenging Planners with unachievable appointment times and managing drivers driving time
· Transmits both pre-plans and committed trips via satellite
· Transmits committed trips to trucks via satellite
· (Un)Load freight as required
· Follow all relevant legislation and company policies and procedures
· To represent EG Gray Transportation in a professional and courteous manner
Qualifications and Skills Requirements
- Education equivalent to completion of High School
- Minimum of 3 to 4 years in a related occupation
- Ability to work as an integral transportation team member excelling in a multi-tasked environment
- Excellent listening, motivating, communicating, teamwork and negotiating skills
- Strong geographical knowledge, highway traffic rules and regulations, drug and alcohol policies and equipment specifications

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
