The Information Technologies is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Electronic Technologist.
The position reports to the Manager, Audio Visual, Learning Space Technology, under the supervision of the Technical Supervisor. The position involves a medium to high volume workload and involves managing a range of diverse tasks, from routine to complex issues. The project cycle includes peak periods with stringent deadlines. The candidate is responsible for making informed decisions regarding the installation and repair of media systems. The impact of these decisions extends from the department level to various Faculties. The individual is responsible for the timely and error-free delivery of audio-visual services to the campus community.
This role does not support a work-from-home policy, emphasizing the importance of in-person collaboration. There may also be a requirement for after-hours work, depending on the nature of the tasks at hand.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Accurately update ServiceNow precision and completeness.

Maintain accurate inventories of equipment in workshop and storage spaces.

Keep precise track of media equipment locations.
-
Plan activities for the following day.

Task Management; organize and prioritize incoming tasks while managing competing priorities.

Follow standard procedures for tracking and escalating incidents.
-
Understand clients requirements and ensure they are informed and updated on related work.

Maintain accurate records of all work using designated tools.
-
Effectively address complex issues using independent judgment and initiate practical solutions.
-
Proactively implement or introduce innovative approaches to IT problems and client requests to the team.

The candidate will adjust to evolving challenges and responsibilities as the unit's structure changes, provide support outside of scheduled hours as needed, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements:
-
Diploma in Broadcast Electronics or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

4-6 years of relevant technical experience in the audio-visual or related industry.

Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of audio, video, and control systems.

Sound, projection and control design experience/integration within a higher education setting.

Proficient computer literacy (Word, Excel, Access, CAD design), basic level of audio-visual programming/set-up desirable (Biamp, Extron, Crestron, etc.)

Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

A thorough understanding of university culture and structure as it relates to providing superior services.

A valid Class 5 driver¿s license (cannot be a graduated license) with proven good driving record (abstract required).
