PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of the Shop Hand position is to assist both the machining and welding departments by performing duties of lesser skill, such as prepping material and cleaning work areas and equipment.
SCOPE
The Shop Hand reports to the shop foreman and/or floor manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Shop and Machine clean-up/organization
· Maintain cleanliness/condition of shop tools/tool boxes
· Operate carbide grinder and bandsaw
· Follow blueprints/drawings/work orders
· Safe operation of lifting/loading equipment
· Follow all safety procedures / precautions
· Document job labor and materials/supplies used
· Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using hoists
· Perform simple machining/welding/cutting operations
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILL
· Working knowledge of shop mathematics
· Competent in the use of basic shop tools and equipment
· Have the ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship
Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
