Position Summary
Museum Assistant will report to the Executive Director and will provide effective and dynamic
leadership to the organization to ensure that strategic objectives of the Board of Directors are
implemented and achieved. The Museum Assistant will assist the Executive Director on the day
to day operations of the Atlantic Salmon Museum.
Responsibilities
Support Executive Director to ensure the day to day operations of the Atlantic Salmon Museum are conducted within framework established through the Board of Director Committees.
Assist the Executive Director with the development and production of all marketing and promotional materials.
Assist the Executive Director with scheduling, planning, set up, tear down, help manage volunteer resources, the museum is cleaned after events, and implementation of events Assist Executive Director and Fundraising committee with fundraising events
Assist the Executive Director in the coordination of Museum artefact collections Represent the Atlantic Salmon Museum when required at community and provincial events, as assigned by the Executive Director.
Manage Gift Shop inventory as per Executive Director guidelines.
In cooperation with Executive Director maintain the P.O.S. Software to ensure optimized reporting and inventory management.
Assist Executive Director with day to day operation of the Gift Shop
Ensure the Museum is cleaned
Provide leadership within the organization per the operational needs and assign responsibility of staff. Create an environment that encourages volunteer appreciation.
Maintain friendly, effective, compassionate and professional relationships with
coworkers, business partners, and service providers.
Perform all additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Board of
Directors.
Qualifications
2-3 years related work experience
Post Secondary Education and/or experience in technology and media skills
Criminal record and vulnerability check
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends.
Attention to detail
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Ability to demonstrate commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to a range of visitors including tours, activities and events, ensuring that all needs and expectations of visitors are fully considered and met
Experience in retail, direct supervisory experience and experience in the Museum and Non-Proft sectors would be optimal
Able to promote the museum as a value added business partner
Demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills
Is a positive and supportive coach and mentor who works to ensure staff have skills and ability to do their jobs, set out clear objectives, removes roadblocks, provides counsel
and advice when required
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
