About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Red Seal Carpenter to join our team for commercial and residential construction projects throughout Western Newfoundland.
This is a good fit for someone who takes pride in quality work, can work independently, and is comfortable being part of a growing company with a wide range of projects. Most work will involve renovations, new construction, commercial fit-outs, apartment conversions, and general building upgrades. There may also be opportunities to assist with marine and wharf construction projects through our related company, Sparkes Subsea.
We are looking for someone reliable, skilled, and able to help keep projects moving without needing constant supervision.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Framing, forming, finishing, and general carpentry work
- Commercial and residential renovations
- Interior and exterior construction work
- Reading drawings, layouts, and basic construction plans
- Installing doors, windows, trim, siding, blocking, backing, stairs, decks, and related building components
- Working with other trades and site supervisors
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized worksite
- Helping troubleshoot construction issues in the field
- Following company safety policies and site procedures
- Assisting with marine or wharf-related construction work when required
Requirements
- Red Seal Carpenter certification preferred
- Strong carpentry experience required
- Commercial and residential construction experience considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
- Ability to read plans and complete accurate layout work
- Strong attention to detail
- Good problem-solving ability
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-minded
- Valid driver’s licence preferred
- Experience with concrete, forming, siding, renovations, or marine construction would be considered an asset
