Company: Knight’s Law Professional Corporation
Location: Ontario (Remote–In-Person Hybrid Preferred)
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive salary, based on experience
About the Role
Knights Law is a growing family law firm built on structured systems, clear file workflows, standardized deadline protocols, and a practice management setup that lets lawyers focus on legal work instead of reinventing process. We're a collaborative-first practice: our approach prioritizes resolving matters out of court wherever possible, and we support lawyers pursuing Collaborative Law training (Levels 1 and 2).
We're looking for an experienced Associate Family Lawyer ready to independently manage a caseload from client intake through resolution or trial with genuine autonomy and the operational backing to do it well.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients across the full range of family law matters: divorce, child custody, parenting arrangements, adoption, and related proceedings
- Independently manage a caseload from intake through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and correspondence
- Negotiate settlements and agreements in clients' best interests
- Advise clients clearly on rights, obligations, and likely outcomes
- Prepare and advocate at court appearances
- Conduct legal research (LexisNexis) to support case strategy
- Maintain current knowledge of family law statutes, regulations, and case law
- Where appropriate, pursue collaborative and out-of-court resolution as a first approach
Mentorship & Support
You won't be building or running a caseload alone. Every associate is supported by a team of knowledgeable colleagues who assist with day-to-day matter management, research, and file work alongside direct mentorship focused on your growth as a lawyer. This structure is led by our Chief Lawyer and our Director of Operations who maintain the firm's systems and workflows so your time goes toward client work and casework.
Qualifications
- Licensed to practice law in Ontario, in good standing
- Minimum 3 years of family law experience
- Strong advocacy, negotiation, and client-management skills
- Working knowledge of Clio and DivorceMate; comfort with LexisNexis
- Organized and self-directed, with a caseload managed under structured senior review and mentorship
- Willingness to pursue Collaborative Law training (Levels 1 and 2), supported by the firm
- Comfortable in a hybrid environment, with in-person attendance for client meetings, staff meetings, and court
Compensation
Base salary tiered by experience/percentage of billings collected
- 3–7 years' call: $80,000–$150.000 base
- Option to generate 20-50% of collected billings
Why Knights Law
- Established Clio workflows and deadline systems already in place
- Collaborative-first culture with firm-supported training
- Hybrid flexibility with in-person time focused on what actually needs it
- Room to build a caseload and grow with the firm
