Matcon Canada is looking for a Geomatics Technician to work alongside the Director of Geomatics on a variety of projects within the construction industry. The position combines both office and field survey work. You will provide field survey services using conventional survey methods but may also work with RPAS and Machine Control.

Responsibilities:
- Liaising with Project Mangers regarding project scope and enquiries
- Calculations and file preparation for use in field
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment during field survey activities. Lead with a Safe work mindset and encourage safe work practices in others
- Working closely with Director of Geomatics in daily activities
- Working with different divisions within the company to assist in survey needs for each
Requirements:
A diploma or degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
An Advanced RPAS license is considered an asset.
- Previous experience working as a Geomatics Technician or in a similar role, preferably in a surveying or geospatial industry, is highly desirable.
- Surveying Knowledge: Solid understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment used in construction layout and engineering surveys
- Proficiency in Civil 3D and processing point clouds
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in diverse weather and terrain conditions.
- Ability to learn new techniques and contribute ideas
- Working in both field and office
- Willing to travel to projects through out B.C.
- Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract
Skills:
- Further skills in UAV drone operation, underground locates, and terrestrial laser scanner operation are specialized skills that are encouraged and valued.
- Strong work ethic, integrity, and professionalism while representing the company and interacting with clients and stakeholders.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing work conditions and project requirements
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills to collaborate with team members, convey technical information, and produce project documentation
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy and precision in survey data collection, processing, and analysis
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve survey-related challenges
