Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Civil Construction Pipelayer to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for laying and installing underground pipelines and utilities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications. The position offers an opportunity to work on challenging projects in a dynamic environment, contributing to essential infrastructure development.
Responsibilities
- Have 3+ years experience as a pipelayer / grademan in the excavation and site servicing field.
- Install underground storm, sanitary sewer, and watermain piping systems
- Read and interpret construction drawings, grade stakes, and pipe specifications
- Align and position pipes using lasers, transit levels, or other grading equipment
- Prepare trenches for pipe installation, including bedding and compaction
- Connect pipes using gaskets, cement, glue, or welding methods as required
- Assist equipment operators and laborers during excavation and backfilling
- Ensure proper slope, alignment, and depth of installed pipe systems
- Perform site cleanup and maintain organized work areas
- Inspect pipes and materials for defects before installation
- Work collaboratively with foremen, operators, and other crew members
- Prepare tools and materials required for pipe installation, ensuring they are readily available when needed.
- Measure and cut pipes accurately, ensuring proper fit and alignment during installation.
- Pack around pipes as necessary to provide stability and support.
- Knowledge with reading plans.
- Safety-focused attitude.
- Must have transportation and a valid G licence.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Pipelayer
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications
- Strong understanding of safety standards in construction environments
- Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting heavy materials and working in confined or outdoor spaces
- May require overtime and weekend work depending on project schedules
