BIM Modeler Job Description
Status Electrical is looking for an Electrical BIM Modeler to join our team.
This is an on-site position based at an active construction project. The BIM Modeler will work closely with field personnel, BIM/VDC coordination teams, and project management. This is not a remote modeling role; direct exposure to construction activities and site conditions is essential.
The role focuses on producing coordinated, constructible electrical models that support installation, prefabrication, layout, and field execution—not only design representation.
Job Requirements
- Model electrical systems in Revit, including conduits, cable trays, equipment, supports, lighting, wall openings, and related infrastructure
- Develop models according to the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), required Level of Development (LOD), and established BIM standards
- Create, modify, and manage Revit families and parametric elements
- Maintain accurate model information, parameters, naming conventions, and asset data
- Coordinate electrical installations with mechanical, plumbing, structural, and architectural systems
- Identify and resolve clashes through multidisciplinary coordination
- Verify site conditions and incorporate field feedback into the model
- Prepare installation drawings, assemblies, and spool drawings for prefabrication and construction
- Create and manage layout points for Total Station workflows
- Perform BIM QA/QC and support accurate as-built documentation
- Provide model-based information and technical support to construction teams
Required qualifications:
- Practical experience with Revit MEP and electrical modeling
- Basic understanding of BEP, LOD, clash detection, model federation, QA/QC, and information management
- Familiarity with Revit families, shared parameters, schedules, and parametric modeling
- Familiarity with Total Station layout and model-based field positioning
- Understanding of electrical installation and constructability
- Ability to interpret electrical, architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
- Comfortable working in an active construction-site environment
- Eager to learn, develop new technical skills, and grow within a BIM/VDC team
Experience with Navisworks Manage, Revizto, Autodesk Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, prefabrication, or point-layout software will be considered an asset.
We are looking for someone who understands that a BIM model must be accurate, coordinated, information-rich, and usable by the people building the project.
Interested candidates can send me their résumé and a brief portfolio or examples of relevant electrical BIM work.
We look forward to hearing from you!
