Line Cook / Prep Cook
The Foundry is looking for a reliable, energetic Line Cook / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team.
The Foundry is a busy downtown pub known for great food, live music, events, trivia, karaoke and a lively atmosphere. Our kitchen can move quickly, especially during evenings, weekends and events, so we're looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-focused environment and takes pride in putting out consistent, quality food.
Experience is an asset, but just as important to us is finding someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and cook menu items according to Foundry recipes and standards
- Complete daily food prep and help ensure the kitchen is ready for service
- Work efficiently during busy lunch, dinner and late-night rushes
- Maintain consistency in food quality, portioning and presentation
- Keep your station clean, organized and properly stocked
- Follow food safety, sanitation and safe food-handling procedures
- Assist with receiving, rotating and properly storing food products
- Communicate with other kitchen staff to keep service running smoothly
- Help with cleaning, dishes and general kitchen duties when needed
- Work collaboratively with both the kitchen and front-of-house teams
- Contribute to a positive, respectful and productive workplace
Skills & Experience That Would Be an Asset
- Previous line cook, prep cook or restaurant kitchen experience
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Strong knife and food-preparation skills
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
- Food Handler Certification
- Good understanding of food safety and sanitation
- Ability to stay organized and prioritize tasks during busy periods
- Ability to work independently while still being a strong team player
- Good communication skills
- Dependability and punctuality
- Ability to take direction and feedback positively
- Willingness to jump in and help wherever needed
