Role Overview
The Associate Player Agent/Advisor role provides an opportunity for an ambitious, motivated, and organized individual based in Toronto/GTA to gain insight into the sports agency industry while learning best practices for both recruiting and retaining clients. The successful candidate is a personable individual who is passionate about the business of hockey, well-connected in the local hockey scene, and thrives in this unique, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Player Research: Conduct extensive, independent research on amateur, semi-pro, and professional hockey players across the GTA, Ontario, and beyond using various internal and external resources.
- Client Prospecting & Scouting: Proactively attract clients using your personal network, in-person arena visits across the GTA, email/telephone outreach, and social media.
- Industry Relations: Liaise with team executives to solicit opportunities for players, schedule meetings, and prepare contracts.
Qualifications & Skills
- Required:
- Strong, established network within the Toronto/GTA hockey community (GTHL, OJHL, OHL, USports, etc.).
- Location requirement: Must be based in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area to evaluate talent in-person at local arenas.
- Demonstrated perseverance and dedication—this is an extremely challenging and competitive industry.
- Self-starter who can work independently, remotely, and with minimal oversight.
- Exceptionally organized with effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Thoroughly enjoy working, collaborating, and interacting with others.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Flexibility in working hours to accommodate evening/weekend games, multiple time zones, tight deadlines, and last-minute requests.
- Nice-to-Have:
- Sales and CRM experience.
- Experience playing hockey.
- Graphic design experience.
- Coding experience.
Compensation
- Commission structure (no base salary) — income is derived directly from player recruitment and successful placements.
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Greater Toronto Area, ON
