In this role, you will work as part of small team creating and assembling high temperature industrial goods such as sleeving, blankets, muffler covers and many more unique industrial products. You are probably now thinking – I have no idea what industrial sleeves, blankets or muffler covers are… well, don’t fear, that part can be taught, all we need from you is sewing experience, a great attitude, willingness to learn and your familiarity around a sewing machine.
In addition to operating industrial sewing machines (single and multi-needle machines), grommet machines and serging machines, you will learn solid construction and design principles and get a great understanding of industrial high temperature protection products.
This is the perfect role for a mechanically inclined, detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys sewing.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain sewing machines and related parts, including pattern pieces, needles, presser feet, automatic cutting tools and blades
- Read and interpret work orders and adjust machines and materials to match all directions provided, including selecting fabric, thread and needles, mounting necessary attachments and double-checking settings before beginning
- Inspect and repair finished products as needed and make machine adjustments to compensate for errors or quality issues
- Record accurately the materials used
- Attach Velcro, grommets, snaps or any other trimmings to sewn pieces according to work order instructions and diagrams
- Troubleshoot basic machinery problems and request service or repairs as needed
- Ensure quality of finished goods meets our quality standards
- Work well independently as well as a member of a team
Job Skills & Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old to work with industrial machines
- Machine sewing experience is required (not necessarily on industrial machines but an asset)
- Good physical (hand/eye) coordination
- Able to lift 40 pounds on a regular basis
- High school diploma or equivalent
