About the Position
We are seeking a Disaster Restoration Technician to join our team of demolition and environmental abatement experts. This position is ideal for someone who is looking to start an exciting career within the construction industry. As a Disaster Restoration Technician, you will be responsible for demolition, remediation and abatement work ensuring compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations, company policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Load, unload and transport construction materials
- Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades
- Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt
- Assist in demolishing buildings
- Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants
- Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
- Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction
- Direct traffic at or near construction sites
- Operate power vibrators to compact concrete
- Help tradespersons, apprentices and other workers as directed
- Follow company safety policies and regulatory procedures for hazardous material removal.
- Communicate with team members and assist in ensuring proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste.
- Adhere to all provincial and local compliance standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge in hazardous materials abatement and remediation preferred.
- Construction industry experience would be an asset.
- Able to obtain Security Clearance an asset.
- Willingness to travel to different job sites.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment such as full face respirator and tyvek suit.
- Ability to lift 30-50 lbs unaided.
- Must be reliable and a team player.
