Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Family Law Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will support attorneys in managing family law cases, ensuring efficient case progression, and maintaining organized legal documentation. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent research abilities, and proficiency in legal drafting and administrative tasks. The Family Law Paralegal will play a vital role in providing exceptional client service and ensuring compliance with legal procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with case preparation, including drafting legal documents and pleadings.
- Manage case files and documents using Clio or similar document management systems.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of case activities and client information.
- File documents with courts accurately and timely, adhering to procedural rules.
- Coordinate interviews with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in family law cases.
- Proofread all legal documents for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with court standards.
- Support project management efforts related to ongoing cases, including tracking deadlines and court dates.
- Maintain professional phone etiquette when communicating with clients, courts, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
Experience
- Prior administrative or clerical experience preferred, ideally within a legal setting.
- Familiarity with family law procedures and terminology is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting correspondence, pleadings, and reports.
- Proven ability to proofread documents thoroughly for errors or inconsistencies.
- Knowledge of iManage or similar document management systems is advantageous.
- Effective interviewing skills to gather necessary information from clients and witnesses.
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining confidentiality.
