Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Freight Dispatcher to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating freight shipments, managing transportation schedules, and ensuring seamless communication between carriers, clients, and internal departments. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of supply chain operations, including transportation management systems and shipping & receiving processes. The Freight Dispatcher plays a vital role in optimizing freight movement and maintaining efficient logistics operations.
Duties
- Coordinate and schedule freight shipments using transportation management systems (TMS) and SyteLine software.
- Communicate effectively with carriers, clients, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and professional phone etiquette.
- Manage shipping & receiving documentation, ensuring accuracy in data entry and compliance with company policies.
- Analyze freight data to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
- Monitor shipment status and troubleshoot issues related to delays or discrepancies in real-time.
- Maintain detailed records of dispatch activities, shipment details, and communication logs.
- Collaborate with 3PL providers to coordinate third-party logistics services as needed.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements during freight handling and dispatching activities.
- Provide exceptional customer service through clear communication and timely updates on shipment status.
Experience
- Proven experience in transportation management systems (TMS), AS400, or SyteLine is preferred.
- Strong background in supply chain management, shipping & receiving, or freight coordination.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Analytical skills to interpret logistics data and generate actionable insights.
- Familiarity with 3PL operations and freight industry standards.
- Exceptional communication skills, including phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently.
- Proficiency in typing and using computer software related to logistics operations.
- Prior experience in a fast-paced dispatch environment is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate.
