About Low Iron Glass
Low Iron Glass Ltd. is a growing architectural glass and aluminum company serving residential, commercial, institutional, and developer clients throughout the GTA and surrounding areas.
We specialize in custom glass solutions including office partitions, storefronts, entrances, shower enclosures, railings, mirrors, curtain wall glazing, specialty architectural glass projects, and aluminum systems.
As we continue to expand, we are looking for an experienced glazing estimator who can help us pursue larger opportunities, expand into new markets, develop relationships with General Contractors, and contribute to the growth of our company.
Position Overview:
This role combines estimating, business development, sales support, and general administration.
The ideal candidate has previous experience working for a glazing contractor, aluminum contractor, curtainwall contractor, or related building envelope company and can confidently prepare quotations, pursue tenders, communicate with General Contractors, suppliers, consultants, and help secure profitable work.
This position may require occasional site visits, meetings with General Contractors, project walkthroughs, supplier meetings, and attendance at project tender meetings.
Compensation Structure:
Base Compensation -
- $55,000 annually
- Paid bi-weekly
- Independent subcontractor position
- No health or dental benefits currently offered
Performance Bonus Structure:
0-$30K+ / year
Primary Responsibilities:
Estimating & Business Development -
- Review tender invitations and bid opportunities
- Monitor ConstructConnect, BuildingConnected, MERX, Biddingo, and other tender platforms
- Prepare detailed quotations and estimates
- Perform quantity takeoffs
- Solicit pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Prepare bid submissions and proposals
- Follow up on submitted quotations and tenders
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities
- Develop and maintain General Contractor relationships
- Assist ownership in expanding into new market sectors
- Attend project meetings when required
- Generate and pursue self-sourced leads and opportunities
Administration
- Answer incoming phone calls
- Respond to emails and client inquiries
- Follow up with clients and General Contractors
- Maintain bid logs and estimating records
- Organize project documentation
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors
- Assist with scheduling site visits and field measurements
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry Experience (must have)
- 3–5+ years of glazing estimating experience preferred
- Experience with commercial glazing, storefronts, entrances, curtain wall, office partitions, and architectural glass systems
- Understanding of glass products, aluminum systems, hardware, and installation methods
- Ability to review specifications, tender documents, and construction drawings
- Estimating Skills
- Quantity takeoffs and material calculations
- Cost estimating and budget pricing
- Scope review and bid preparation
- Supplier and subcontractor coordination
- Proposal preparation and tender submissions
- Software Experience
- Bluebeam Revu
- Microsoft Excel
- AutoCAD (an asset)
- PDF markup tools
- Estimating software and job costing systems (QuickBooks, HubSpot etc)
- Business Development
- Experience building relationships with General Contractors, developers, architects, and consultants
- Ability to identify and pursue new opportunities
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Understanding of bid strategy and competitive pricing

Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years glazing estimating experience preferred
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid Ontario driver's license preferred
- Ability to attend occasional site meetings and project walkthroughs
