Job Summary
The Thinking Garden ECC is hiring for an on call substitute starting at anytime with the option to move into a temporary matt leave position for 2027. We are looking for passionate educators, who work well in team environments, have a true calling for childcare and childcare advocacy, and a love for nature and multiple learning philosophies.
Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages curiosity, independence, and respectful interactions among children.
- Support children with diverse needs, including those with disabilities, by adapting activities and providing personalized assistance.
- Observe and document each child's progress to inform ongoing instructional strategies and communicate effectively with parents or guardians.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment that complies with health and safety standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan activities, share insights, and ensure a cohesive approach to early childhood education.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children in educational or caregiving settings.
- Strong understanding of early childhood education principles, philosophies, and developmental milestones.
- Experience with children 2.5-6 years old.
- Clean, tidy, and appropriately dressed.
- Teaching skills combined with a caring attitude and patience.
- Knowledge of best practices in caregiving, safety protocols, and inclusive education methods.
- Relevant certifications in early childhood education or related fields are preferred.
- Must be a current resident of BC. (LIMA NOT ACCEPTED)
- Must hold a current ECE certification or ECE/SNE/ITE diploma.
- Must have a clean criminal record check, and be in good standing with the ECE registry of BC.
Pay: $21.00-$29.00 per hour
