OVERVIEW
Our client, a leading mineral drilling services company, is seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to join their team in Sudbury.
Supporting drilling operations across Ontario, this organization provides specialized drilling services for mining projects through exploration, development, and production, with a strong focus on safety, equipment reliability, training, and operational performance.
Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Shop Foreman will lead, plan, and manage maintenance and repair activities for drilling equipment and the vehicle fleet. This role will oversee shop personnel, coordinate priorities with operations, support preventive maintenance, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high technical standard.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead mechanical maintenance activities by optimizing the use of parts, tools, equipment, and labour to meet or exceed maintenance planning targets.
· Supervise, direct, and coach employees to ensure maximum performance.
· Collaborate in planning to ensure maximum performance and efficiency of activities.
· Participate in meetings with the operations department and shop manager to help set priorities.
· Perform administrative tasks related to parts and equipment requisitioning and preventive maintenance activities.
· Analyze issues encountered and, with the help of maintenance employees under supervision, propose solutions and improvements.
· Ensure maximum recovery of mechanical parts and equipment.
· Ensure that the premises are kept clean and safe and control access and traffic in the garage.
· Perform all other related tasks necessary for the smooth running of operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Mechanic Diploma or official certification in a relevant mechanical trade.
· Minimum five years of practical mechanical experience, with a strong focus on diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of high-pressure hydraulic systems specific to heavy mobile or drilling equipment.
· Experience with pneumatic systems is highly valued.
· Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word.
· Strong communication skills to convey technical instructions, report status, and collaborate with mechanics, operators, and management.
· Ability to obtain and maintain an Explosives License, such as a General Explosives Permit.
· Ontario Common Core certification for Underground and/or Surface operations.
· Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent shop activities and supervise a team.
· Adaptable and resilient when handling unforeseen mechanical issues and last-minute operational changes.
· Strong supervisory skills to lead, train, and manage shop personnel.
· High degree of focus, concentration, and sound professional judgment.
· Bilingualism in English/French is a strong asset.
· Valid full G driver’s licence.
· Willingness to travel if required, up to 10% of the time.

Hourly rate*: $45-$55/hr
