Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Geomatics Summer Student to join our team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in geospatial technologies, data management, and construction-related projects. The role involves supporting various geomatics activities, including data collection, mapping, and CAD drafting, to assist with ongoing projects and gain practical experience in the field of geomatics and GIS. The position is paid and ideal for students pursuing studies related to surveying, civil engineering, or geospatial sciences.
Responsibilities
- Assist with data collection activities using GPS, total stations, and other surveying equipment
- Support the creation and editing of maps and drawings using AutoCAD and CAD software
- Contribute to GIS projects by managing spatial data within ArcGIS and other GIS platforms
- Organize and maintain databases related to project data, ensuring accuracy and accessibility
- Aid in the development of construction layouts and site plans
- Collaborate with team members on project documentation, reports, and data management tasks
- Participate in fieldwork activities to gather geospatial information for various projects
Experience
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program related to Geomatics, Civil Engineering, GIS, or a similar field
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and GIS concepts is preferred
- Experience with data collection techniques such as GPS or total stations is a plus
- Knowledge of data management practices and working with databases is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of construction processes or experience in construction-related environments is desirable
