Cavendish Manor Retirement Residence is seeking an experienced and passionate Kitchen Manager to lead our dietary department and ensure residents receive exceptional dining experiences every day.
The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, food ordering, inventory management, staff scheduling, food safety compliance, and resident satisfaction.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the dietary department
- Plan and implement seasonal menus in accordance with residents' nutritional needs and preferences
- Manage food ordering, inventory control, and budget compliance
- Ensure compliance with Public Health, RHRA, and food safety regulations
- Supervise, schedule, train, and support dietary staff
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Accommodate special diets, allergies, texture-modified diets, and physician-ordered meal plans
- Participate in Resident Council meetings and gather feedback regarding dining services
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control
- Work collaboratively with management, nursing, and recreation teams
- Assist with special events, themed meals, and community functions
- Complete administrative duties including scheduling, documentation, and departmental reporting
Requirements
- Chef training, Culinary Management, Nutrition Management, or equivalent experience
- Food Handler Certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience in a kitchen environment
- Experience in retirement living, long-term care, healthcare, hospitality, or institutional food service preferred
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Experience with food ordering, inventory management, and budget control
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and senior nutrition considered an asset
- Required to provide a VULNERABLE SECTOR POLICE CHECK - current within 6 months of date of hire
- Required to provide a TB test result current within 6 months of date of hire
