Engineering Manager – Product Development & Power Solutions
GENREP has been a trusted provider of power product solutions to Canadian businesses since 1983. What began as a service-focused organization maintaining emergency standby generators has evolved into a full end-to-end provider of generator and engine solutions. We support customers through service, projects, system integration, and engineered power solutions across industrial and commercial markets.
As we continue to expand our product capabilities and innovation strategy, we are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager – Product Development & Power Solutions to strengthen our technical leadership.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Product Development & Portfolio Oversight
- Lead development of new generator and power solution products from concept through validation.
- Oversee technical performance of existing product portfolio (generators, power units, hybrid systems, BESS).
- Conduct design reviews, testing, validation, and feasibility studies for new product lines.
- Drive continuous product improvements for reliability, efficiency, compliance, and cost optimization.
- Ensure products meet applicable safety, regulatory, and certification standards.
2. Engineering Leadership
- Provide hands-on technical leadership to engineers and technical staff.
- Mentor and develop engineering team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Establish engineering best practices, documentation standards, and review processes.
- Support technical problem-solving related to product performance and quality.
3. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify emerging trends in diesel and natural gas generators, hybrid systems, battery energy storage (BESS), and distributed power solutions.
- Lead evaluation and pilot implementation of new technologies aligned with company growth strategy.
- Collaborate with suppliers to assess new components and technical advancements.
- Support root cause investigations and product improvement initiatives.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration (Critical Component of Role)
- Act as a bridge between Management, Engineering, Sales, Service, and external vendors.
- Support Business Development and Sales with technical expertise during client discussions.
- Liaise with certification bodies and regulatory authorities as required.
- Provide technical training and knowledge-sharing across internal teams.
Desired Skill, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Engineering, or related discipline.
- 8–10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within generator manufacturing or power systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of power generation, energy storage, and distribution systems.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing or mentoring engineering teams.
- Experience supporting both new product development and ongoing product quality improvement.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on, solution-oriented approach.
