Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance duties and provide subject matter expertise and duties in all maintenance areas of the site. You will perform daily inspections and daily readings and records of pressures, temperatures, air flows, liquid levels, etc. on boilers and air handling systems. Other duties may be assigned within the scope of the position.
Educational Qualifications :
Grade 12 Diploma
Building Operators “B” certificate, or equivalent preferred (new 5th class power engineering certificate,AB)
Work Experience :
One year experience in a commercial or institutional setting is required
Experience working with the elderly is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Mechanical aptitude to perform a variety of minor repairs to building, furniture and fixtures required
Able to operate hand and power tools
Able to plan and organize varied duties for effective time management
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to deal effectively with conflict in a diplomatic and professional manner
Able to communicate both verbally and in writing so others can easily interpret and understand it fully
Exhibit an open and sincere approach by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equally
Maintain an individual’s dignity and self worth during conversations
Excellent active listening skills
Demonstrate flexibility by changing routine to accommodate client/resident needs
Accept, implement and evaluate change with a positive attitude
Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing so others can easily interpret and understand it fully.
Heavy lifting, cleaning, and reaching required.
Requirements:
- A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form and if applicable a Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained no more than 90 calendar days prior to the hire date.
- A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
