Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and organized Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice downtown Ottawa. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, manage appointment scheduling, and handle administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires excellent communication skills, familiarity with dental office procedures, and the ability to maintain a welcoming environment for patients. Only candidates with a minimum of 2 years of previous dental reception experience or who hold a dental assisting degree and who are bilingual in English and French will be considered.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and check them in upon arrival, ensuring a positive patient experience
- Manage multi-line phone systems to schedule appointments, answer inquiries, and confirm patient details
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic medical records systems such as Dentrix and Epic
- Verify insurance information and assist with billing procedures
- Prepare and update patient charts, ensuring all documentation is current and complete
- Coordinate with dental staff to facilitate smooth daily operations at the front desk
- Handle administrative tasks including data entry, filing, and managing correspondence
- Assist with patient check-out procedures, including scheduling follow-up appointments and payments
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk environment
Experience
- Previous experience as a dental receptionist is a must
- Familiarity with dental practice management software
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology related to dentistry and preparing estimates to insurance companies
- Proven ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Office experience with administrative duties, including data entry and record keeping
- Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor to interact effectively with patients and staff
