About the Role
Alternative Accounting is a professional bookkeeping firm based in Duncan, BC, dedicated to providing exceptional financial services to our clients. We pride ourselves on our commitment to accuracy, integrity, and personalized service, and we are looking for a Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team.
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of being in the office 1-2 days per week at our Duncan, BC location. These in-person days allow you to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients, while the remaining days offer the flexibility of remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and payment processing
- Maintain accurate records of work in progress and client pre-planning information
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
- Prepare and file GST/HST returns and assist with year-end tax preparation
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes
- Generate regular financial reports and analyze data for management
- Mentor and train junior bookkeeping staff
- Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) to manage financial data
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding their accounts and financial status
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred)
- 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks) and MS Office
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
