Duties:
- Ensure the facility is cleaned to the ASCHA Lodge Minimum Standards of Operation.
- Daily cleaning of resident rooms including bed-making, linen and towel changing.
- The cleanliness of all common areas and flooring
- Annual cleaning of all rooms and common areas.
- Outside parameter cleaning include but not limited to windows, gazebo areas, entrance way.
- Sorting and completion of laundry.
- Assists with meals as required.
- Perform kitchen duties as required.
- Assist as needed to shampoo carpets/furniture if a resident has been incontinent.
- Attends various committees and training sessions as required.
- Assist with and attend special events.
- Participates in and promotes the Health & Safety Program. Reports any safety issues to the Food Service & OHS Manager and is knowledgeable in emergency procedures and can act accordingly.
- Ensuring that cleaning equipment is kept in good working order.
- Daily water temperatures done weekly to co-inside with room cleaning.
- Daily changing of bird cage hydration bins. Clean out bird liners on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays or when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must be in good health - a medical may be required.
2. Must be able to work independently, or as a team member, and be able to meet deadlines.
3. Must possess a high standard of hygiene and personal appearance.
4. Must have a flexible, willing, and positive attitude.
5. Must have good organizational skills.
6. Must have good communication skills – both oral and written.
7. Must have a Grade 10 education.
8. Previous housekeeping experience is essential. A minimum one (1) years’ experience in service industry.
9. Must have the ability to relate well with seniors.
10. Must have WHMIS and First Aid and Food Handling Course or willing to obtain.
11. Must be willing to attend courses as requested by the Lodge.
12. Must be willing to work on weekends, holidays and perform rotational Shift Work (Day and Night)
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.)
· Will be exposed to corrosive and non-corrosive materials.
· Will be required to frequently bend and stretch.
· Will be required to pull, push, and lift furniture.
· Will be required to operate heavy cleaning equipment.
· Will be required to do repetitive housekeeping tasks.
