About Us
Lake City Foods is a mid-sized private label food manufacturer based in Mississauga, Ontario. We are a BRC, Kosher, and Organic certified facility specializing in dry food production, including baking mixes, pancakes, soup and gravy mixes, rice side dishes, and stuffing. As we continue to grow, we are expanding our Product Development team.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Product Developer with culinary background to join our team, reporting directly to the COO and Product Development Manager. This role is responsible for driving research and development initiatives from concept through to commercialization, ensuring successful product development, plant trials, and product launches.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the full product development lifecycle, including new formulations and reformulations
- Develop, document, and maintain detailed product specifications
- Collaborate with sales teams to support customer samples and product initiatives
- Assist in sourcing, evaluate new and existing raw materials for quality, functionality, and cost-effectiveness
- Plan, oversee, and execute plant trials and production runs
- Monthly & weekly shelf-life review of new & existing sku’s
- Identify and implement process improvements within R&D and production
Qualifications
- Experience in R&D within the food industry
- Strong knowledge of food science principles
· Strong culinary skills, including cooking and baking
- Well-developed sensory evaluation abilities with an understanding of North American taste preferences
- Familiarity with Genesis software is an asset
- Knowledge of Canadian and FDA food regulations is an asset
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
