A Different Kind of Teaching Opportunity
What if school looked different?
Atomic Hockey Academy is looking for an exceptional educator who believes students learn best when they are engaged, supported, and inspired.
This unique teaching opportunity is offered through South Central Interior Distance Education School (SCIDES) and School District No. 58, combining the strength of the BC Curriculum with an innovative student-athlete academy environment.
Located inside the Atomic Hockey training facility in Langley, BC, our academy brings together academics, athletics, leadership, and personal development to create an environment where young students can thrive.
This is not a traditional classroom setting.
It is an opportunity to help build something new.
About Atomic Hockey Academy
Atomic Hockey Academy is designed for Grade 4–7 student-athletes who want to pursue excellence both academically and athletically.
Our goal is simple:
Develop better students. Better athletes. Better people.
Students spend part of their day focused on academics and part of their day participating in hockey development, athletic training, and enrichment programming.
The academy features:
- Dedicated academic classrooms
- On-ice hockey development
- Advanced skating and skill development technology
- Strength, movement, and athletic training
- Leadership and mentorship programming
- A positive environment focused on confidence, accountability, and growth
A Small-Group Learning Model
Atomic Hockey Academy has been intentionally designed around connection, relationships, and individualized support.
Students are divided into two age-appropriate cohorts:
Grade 4–5 Group
Grade 6–7 Group
Each group consists of approximately 16–20 students.
Students operate on a split-day schedule where one group completes academics while the other group participates in hockey development and athletic programming. The groups then switch, allowing the teacher to work with smaller focused groups throughout the day.
The successful candidate will also be supported by an Education Assistant, creating a low student-to-educator ratio and allowing for more individualized instruction and student support.
This model allows teachers the opportunity to truly know their students and create meaningful impact.
