Aletta Holsteins Inc. is a family owned and operated dairy operation located in Linden, MB. They milk approx. 1500 high productive cows with additional young stock on two locations. We currently have an opening for four Dairy Herdspersons (NOC 84120).

Salary: $ 20.09 per hour
Position Summary: Reporting to the farm manager, the Dairy Herdspersonis responsible for carrying out feeding, health and breeding programs on our dairy farms.
Duties Include:
- Perform animal husbandry activities
- Implement pasture or pen breeding programs
- Develop and implement feeding programs
- Operate external rotary parlour milk system and/or robotic milking system
- Detect and report malfunctioning of rotary and robotic milking systems
- Detect and treat certain diseases and health problems in livestock,
- Detect and report cows in heat
- May perform artificial insemination
- Perform hoof trimming
- Maintain livestock performance records
- Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns
- Maintain inventory and order materials as required
- Operate farm equipment and machinery to grow and harvest dairy feed
- Perform farm equipment and machinery maintenance
- Follow food safety and security and animal bio-security procedures
- May supervise general farm labourers.
Requirements:
- Some knowledge of dairy farming is required;
- Proven relevant work experience is preferred;
- Education in Animal Husbandry is preferred
- Experience with external rotary parlour milk system and/or robotic milking is preferred;
- Preference is given to candidate who is mechanically inclined to identify rotary and robotic milking system errors;
- Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment is necessary
- Be able to work independent as well as part of a team
- Able to communicate in the English language
