Compensation: $73,000.00 – $92,000.00 per year + benefits including Municipal Pension Plan and 4 weeks vacation entitlement to start.
Your Impact
As the People & Culture Lead, you will take full ownership of the HR function and play a pivotal role in shaping our workplace culture and organizational effectiveness.
- HR Generalist: Lead and enhance the full employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding to ongoing employee satisfaction and performance. Work with the leadership team to develop and implement organizational initiatives that strengthen employee retention and enrich workplace culture.
- Labour Relations Specialist: Oversee grievance management, support successful investigations; collective agreement interpretation, and union relations, collaborating closely with HEABC advisors and leading key labour relations matters, including arbitrations and negotiations.
- Strategic Advisory Partner: Provide trusted guidance to the Senior Leadership Team on workforce planning, performance coaching and evaluation, organizational capacity, and legislative compliance.
- Health & Safety Stewardship: Champion workplace safety and ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements. Lead disability Management program to support safe and timely employee recovery and return to work.
- Operational Excellence: Drive HR initiatives and special projects from concept to completion, operating with high autonomy to ensure HR programs are delivered with quality, integrity, and a strong focus on the staff experience.
What You Bring
You are a strategic thinker who balances firm leadership with deep empathy. You thrive on solving complex problems and pride yourself on your ability to navigate high-stakes situations with diplomacy and sound judgement.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of HR/LR experience within a unionized environment. Familiarity with BC Health Care public sector Collective Agreements (HEABC), specifically the FBA, CBA, and NBA, is a strong asset.
- Education: A Degree or Diploma in Human Resources; CPHR designation (or active progress toward it) is preferred. String background in Health & Safety and Emergency preparedness also an asset.
- Legislative Expertise: Demonstrated understanding of relevant employment legislation, including the BC Employment Standards Act, Human Rights legislation, BC Occupational Health & Safety regulations, and BC Privacy legislation (PIPA and FIPPA).
- Digital Proficiency: Strong technical skills in Microsoft 365 suite. Familiarity with ComVida is an asset.
- Mindset & Diplomacy: A positive, collaborative attitude with a proven ability to lead sensitive conversations with professionalism. You are a resourceful professional known for delivering results.
