Special Alloy Fabricators Ltd. (SAF) is a 100% Canadian-owned company specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of high-performance valves and flow equipment. Founded in 1989, SAF operates a fabrication facility in Delta, British Columbia, and maintains sales and engineering in Edmonton, Alberta.
The Welder/Fabricator is a key member of the team, relied upon for welding and fabricating products and product components. Responsible for completing work that meets provincial standards, paying close attention to detail, safe execution of tasks, and communicating with the team. This role is required to meet deadlines, prioritize work, coordinate with other workers, understand the tasks, and troubleshoot as required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Welding of structural and plate fabrications in steel and stainless-steel materials
- Structural plates fabrication from steel and stainless-steel materials
- Operation of forklifts and overhead cranes
- To work safely with others in a production shop environment
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a recognized welding program or apprenticeship preferred
- Valid Class A pressure certificate of qualifications as required by Technical Safety BC
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in welding and fabrication in an industrial or manufacturing setting
- Experience operating forklift and overhead cranes
- Familiarity with structural and plate welding techniques and standards
Qualification and Requirements
- Maintain valid welding ticket; maintain Class A Certificate of Qualifications as required by Technical Safety BC.
- Have an understanding of the materials and products used in SAF business.
- Have knowledge of safe use of equipment.
- Cooperate and collaborate with SAF team to develop and maintain superior customer service and quality products.
- Adhere to SAF policies and procedures with a focus on quality and safety.
Skills and Abilities

Working Conditions:
- Physical Requirements – Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs. regularly. Standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for welding and fabrication of tasks. Ability to operate heavy equipment safely (after training/certification). Visual and auditory acuity to work safely in a production environment. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
- Environment – Full-time, on-site role in a machining and production shop environment. Fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and shifting priorities. Collaboration with production, machining, and assembly teams. Exposure to loud noise, dust, fumes, oils, and varying temperatures.
- Hours – Standard hours of operation. Afternoon shift with notice. Afternoon Shift: May be required (2:30 PM–10:00 PM) based on production demand.
Compensation to include salary, benefits and a deferred-profit-sharing plan.
