About OSENSA Innovations
OSENSA Innovations is a recognized leader in the development and manufacturing of advanced fiber optic temperature sensing and partial discharge monitoring solutions. Our high-performance sensors serve critical applications in power generation, transformers, switchgear, semiconductors, data centers, and industrial automation. We are a dynamic, fast-growing Canadian technology manufacturer with a strong R&D focus and a commitment to innovation and operational excellence.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on, technically savvy, corporate accountant who can grow into the role of Controller and drive OSENSA to the next level of growth. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a pivotal role for a lean, high-growth company. You will own the full spectrum of finance, accounting, operations support, and government funding activities. We want someone who does the work, not supervises the work. You will use AI tools to maximize productivity and efficiency especially as it relates to bookkeeping, invoicing, and following up on receivables. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, has experience scaling startups into established companies, and is excited by the opportunity to be a part of a rapidly growing technology company.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial operations, including preparation of year-end financials (working with an external firm for review engagements), cash flow management, cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing KPIs.
- Manage full-cycle payroll, hiring, employee terminations, T4/T5 filings, and HR compliance.
- Identify, apply for, and manage government funding programs including SR&ED claims, IRAP, and other assistance programs — including assisting with technical proposals, submitting expense claims, and preparing all required reports.
- Work within an ERP system (ERP experience is a strong asset) and ensure accurate financial and operational reporting for a manufacturing environment.
- Work closely with engineering and technical teams on R&D projects and categorizing what expenses are eligible for SR&ED or IRAP funding.
- Maintain ISO 9001 compliance and implement best-practice management and cost-accounting processes.
- Work directly with the executive team in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-growth environment to support scaling the business.
What You Bring
- Accounting credentials (CPA, or equivalent) with strong technical knowledge or aptitude.
- Proven experience working in a manufacturing, R&D, or publicly traded company.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing KPIs, cost accounting, inventory management, and cash-flow optimization.
- Hands-on experience writing and filing SR&ED claims, IRAP applications, and other government funding programs (proposal writing, claims, and reporting).
- Experience with ERP systems for manufacturing.
- Technical background or direct experience collaborating with R&D/engineering teams on product development projects.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and management best practices.
- Strong interest in using AI tools to boost productivity in a lean organization.
- Ability and desire to operate independently in a lean, fast-moving environment — you are proactive, resourceful, and execution-focused.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to play a foundational role in scaling a high-tech manufacturing company with global sales.
- Competitive compensation, including stock options and profit sharing.
- Direct impact on strategy and growth in a collaborative, innovative culture.
