Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securement
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and inspection reports
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or potential delays
- Assist with minor automotive repairs or troubleshooting issues to keep trucks in optimal condition
- Ensure all freight is properly secured and documented for safe transport across various terrains and weather conditions
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License)
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety standards for long-distance transport
- Basic automotive repair skills to troubleshoot common vehicle issues on the road
- Strong attention to detail for inspection routines and documentation accuracy
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dispatch teams and clients
- Physical stamina to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road
