WF Steel and Crane is looking for an in-house HSE Trainer to mentor, train and work with the employees in our Nisku Shops.
Position Details:
The HSE Coordinator is responsible to train, monitor and evaluate the competency of employees, while also assisting the HSE Manager with additional duties.
Responsibilities:
Training & Development

Facilitate Training Sessions for employees and subcontractors, including Fall Protection, MEWP, Mobile Equipment, Rigging and Overhead Crane Use.

Train, monitor, and evaluate the competency of employees through practical assessments, observation, and ongoing coaching.

Coordinate and conduct training sessions across shifts and areas, adapting as needed to meet demands.

Conduct professional safety presentations to all levels of the company including New Hire Orientations, Monthly Safety Meetings, and Internal Training.

Deliver safety presentations and support a positive safety culture.

Lead and participate in impactful safety meetings.

Communicate policies, practices, and updates to workers while staying informed of any changes from HSE Leadership.

Administration and execution of mandatory learning requirements: planning, scheduling, coordination, follow-up and reminders, including external training as required.

Complete onboarding and orientation of new employees, ensuring all documentation, training, and certifications are completed.

Maintain training records and employee certifications.

Promote a strong safety culture by engaging employees and encouraging proactive hazard reporting.
Qualifications:
-
Previous experience in a training or adult learning related role (5+ years)
-
Previous experience in the Fabrication, Manufacturing, or Construction industry
-
Thorough knowledge of overhead crane systems, applications, inspection requirements, safe operating practices, and relevant safety standards

Ability to train, mentor, and evaluate employees in overhead crane operation and safe work practices

Experience coordinating and delivering training programs in an industrial environment

Comfortable and confident in public speaking

Advanced knowledge of provincial OH&S regulations & standards

Strong organizational and communication skills (oral, written, and visual presentation)

Intermediate proficiency in MS Office

Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build positive relationships

Valid Class 5 Driver's License
The Following Would Be Considered Assets
-
Experience in the steel and/or crane manufacturing industry
-
University or college diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Adult Education, Training & Development, or a related field

Experience with Manufacturing Health & Safety Association (MHSA) and COR Program
-
Experience delivering training related to Fall Protection, MEWP, Mobile Equipment, Rigging, and Overhead Crane Use
-
Experience administering learning management systems, training records, and employee competency programs
