About Us
At OGS Landscape & Pools, we are the local neighborhood go-to for clean, clear, and healthy pools. Our customers rely on us not just for supplies, but for expert guidance and friendly service. We are looking for an engaging, dependable Front Desk & Retail Assistant to be the welcoming face (and voice!) of our swimming pool division. If you enjoy tending a lively retail store, handling phone inquiries, and helping people solve problems, this is the role for you!
The Role
Working under the supervision of our Store Manager and Pool Division Manager, you will be the anchor of our retail storefront. Your primary focus will be tending the store, answering incoming calls, and ensuring every customer has an exceptional experience.
In addition to running the front desk, you will be trained to act as a troubleshooter at our water testing bar—testing water samples, explaining the results in plain English, and recommending chemical treatments. No prior chemistry or pool knowledge is required—we provide comprehensive, paid training to make you confident in all aspects of the store!
Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Retail Customer Service
- Greet every customer promptly and serve as the primary point of contact for the store.
- Field incoming calls and emails regarding new projects, retail questions, and customer inquiries.
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) register accurately, process transactions, and manage customer account profiles.
- Recommend and sell chemicals, maintenance tools, replacement cartridges, and pool accessories based on customer needs.
- Provide "carry-out" service by loading heavy purchases (such as 40 lb salt bags and liquid chlorine cases) into customer vehicles.
Water Testing & Customer Education
- Receive and test customer pool and spa water samples using our automated lab equipment and software.
- Read and interpret chemical analysis reports (covering pH, free chlorine, total alkalinity, cyanuric acid, and calcium hardness).
- Explain test results to customers in a simple, friendly manner and walk them through step-by-step instructions to balance their water or clear up algae.
Store Operations & Merchandising
- Perform general store cleaning to maintain a neat, welcoming, and professional environment.
- Keep the retail floor, water testing station, and chemical shelves organized and fully stocked throughout the day.
- Assist with receiving vendor shipments, checking inventory counts, managing stock, and facing shelves.
- Strictly follow all safety protocols for handling, storing, and stacking pool chemicals.
Administrative Tasks
- Prepare chemical orders and kits for our weekly maintenance customers.
- Assist with other general administrative duties and flexible office tasks as the needs of the business evolve.
