Cox Bay Beach Resort is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager, who is collaborative and with strong leadership skills to join our management team on the Wild West Coast, in Tofino.
The Maintenance Manager oversees all maintenance operations at Cox Bay Beach Resort, ensuring that guest accommodations, amenities, and grounds are consistently maintained to the highest standard. This role is critical in supporting guest satisfaction, team productivity, and overall resort operations, and works under the direction of the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Take direction from the General Manager and align maintenance operations with overall resort goals and priorities
- Collaborate with Management, Front Desk and other departments to ensure seamless guest service
- Lead, supervise, and support the maintenance team in daily operations across the 40-unit resort
- Assign and prioritize work orders, including daily calls, preventative maintenance, and project work
- Oversee hot tub maintenance program to ensure daily monitoring and compliance with safety standards
- Coordinate and manage annual renovation projects, including painting, grouting, and suite upgrades
- Using Trello to communicate effectively with team on property maintenance and upkeep
- Conduct routine inspections of guest units, common areas, and grounds
- Ensure timely and high-quality completion of all maintenance tasks
- Coordinate external contractors and specialized service providers when required
- Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment and provide training as needed
- Work closely with the Human Resource Department and our staff Trello Board to facilitate hiring, onboarding, scheduling, payroll, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution processes
After-Hours Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the after-hours on-call schedule, including weekend coverage
- Assign team members to cover after-hours calls when necessary and ensure accountability
- Provide support and escalation for emergency situations
- Review and follow up on all after-hours incidents with Management and Front Desk to ensure proper resolution
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in maintenance or facilities management, preferably in a resort or hospitality setting
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience required
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical)
- Familiarity with groundskeeping equipment and general maintenance tools
- Experience overseeing projects such as renovations and upgrades
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment
- Ability to follow direction and work collaboratively with senior leadership
- Availability for on-call and emergency support as needed
This position requires minimum 1 year commitment, with possibility of extension.
Accommodation: Subsidized private suite is available for this candidate and departure bonus upon fulfilling the contract.
Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour
