Westhills Care Centre is a BRAND NEW distinctive Long-Term Care Facility providing a variety of clinical and personal programs and services to 160 residents!
Are you looking for a rewarding Cook role in a brand-new state of the art facility? Would you enjoy working with a brand-new Dietary/Food Service team?
The Cook reports to the Nutrition Manager, the Cook will follow the policy and procedures outlined by the Ministry of Long-Term Care and other governing bodies.
Cook Responsibilities:
- Prepares and serves food for the residents, including the more complex meal preparation for the home as required
- Responsible for the production and service of high quality and nutritious food items
- Reviews meal and production schedules
- Takes food samples, including food temperatures and portioning food items
- Cleans pots, pans and cooking utensils as per procedure
- Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers
- Participates in facility meetings as assigned
- Attends in-service and on-line education programs
- Adheres to established policies, procedures regarding quality assurance and infection control
- Assists Dietary Aides as required and all outlined duties above
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Food handler training certification.
- Current certificate as a Food Service worker. Enrolled in a Food Service Worker/ Dietary aide program or have worked in a LTC home prior to July 1, 2010.
- Comprehensive knowledge of dietary and food service practices, as well as knowledge in Infection Control Practices.
- Ability to work effectively individually and with others while prioritizing task to be completed
Cooks must possess:
- a chef training or culinary management diploma or certificate, or holds a certificate of qualification in the trade of Cook or Institutional Cook
MUST have a current Police Check (Vulnerable Sector).
