Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathe machines for custom and one-off parts.
- Set up and operate manual machine tools, including manual lathes, mills, drill presses, and boring mills.
- Operate a variety of machining equipment, including:
- Vertical and Horizontal Machining Centers (VMCs)
- CNC Lathes
- Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs)
- Boring Mills
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T callouts.
- Review work orders and part drawings to understand job requirements and specifications.
- Select appropriate tooling and apply efficient machining techniques.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments.
- Verify completed parts meet drawing requirements and customer specifications.
- Move between machines and jobs based on production requirements and individual skillset.
- Collaborate with programmers and senior machinists to improve processes and maximize efficiency.
- Maintain high production standards while ensuring quality workmanship.
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes and machining centers.
- Experience operating manual machine tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
- Proficiency using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, callipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to quality, accuracy, and workplace safety.
- Experience with custom, prototype, and low-volume manufacturing is considered an asset.
