Purpose of the Position
- Directs and assists in carrying out safety aseptic technique and procedures;
- Delivers direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process
- Assists physicians with endoscopy and other procedures provided (gastroscopy, minor anorectal surgery);
- Prepares specimens for pathology lab;
- Ensures proper functioning and safety (sterilization) of equipment; initiates repairs of faulty equipment, and assists with sterilization, if and when required;
- Ensures that work area is clean, sanitized and free of clutter at all times;
- Follows quality assurance standards as directed
- Procedures and IHF guidelines and other applicable quality standards;
- Is aware of safety specific concerns with regard to patients age;
- If required, monitors required stock and safety/quality levels for clinical supplies.
Working Relationship
- Works collaboratively with clinical nursing team, physicians, clinical support staff and administrative staff in accordance with the policies of the Holly Endoscopy Clinic.
- Effectively interacts between patients and their families/caregivers.
Education, Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with registration as Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse, licensed to practice in Ontario.
- Minimum 1 year experience preferred.
- BCLS (or working towards) certifications.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in the English language
- Computer literacy.
- I.V. experience preferred.
- Must have at least two COVID-19 vaccinations.
