The Civil Project Coordinator supports Project Managers and Superintendents to oversee the planning, execution, and closing of Civil engineering projects. They act as a central communication hub, managing logistics, documentation, and budgets to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
Duties and responsibilities
- Project assistance: Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in day-to-day administration and fieldwork. This can include preparing estimates, bids, and tender submissions.
- Documentation and reporting: Maintain all project documentation, such as contracts, reports, drawings, permits, and specifications. They also prepare regular progress reports for clients and project managers.
- Scheduling and coordination: Coordinate schedules and activities between various project teams, including clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. They ensure all deadlines and milestones are met.
- Budget management: Track project expenditures and assist with managing the budget, including negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Compliance and safety: Monitor project compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, building codes, and quality control programs.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between all stakeholders and facilitate effective communication. Organize and attend project meetings, taking minutes and tracking action items.
Qualifications and requirements
- Education: A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is desired. A college diploma in a construction-related discipline may also be acceptable.
- Experience: Previous experience in civil construction (roads and sewers) or construction-related administrative role is essential. Several years of experience may be substituted for post-secondary education.
- Technical skills:
- Proficiency with project management software, such as MS Project.
- Familiarity with construction management tools.
- Proficiency with design software like AutoCAD.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
