1. Position Summary
MICRO Boutique is hiring Hotel Cleaners on a full-time, temporary/seasonal basis to support its hotel operations at its Nova Scotia locations. The primary focus of the Hotel Cleaner is to support our short term accommodations by ensuring our suites and facilities are thoroughly cleaned, while enabling the team to deliver exceptional customer service. This position will also support Hotel Supervisors with day-to-day operations to create an inviting atmosphere for our guests to have a pleasant and comfortable stay with us.
Working hours vary according to customer needs and will include daytime, evening and weekend hours. We need a dedicated and flexible team player who will be available to fulfill job duties and responsibilities within the agreed upon hours per week, as set by your supervisor.
2. Responsibilities
Suite Cleaning/Staging
- Full cleaning of your assigned suites
- The Hotel Supervisor will supply you with your designated rooms and supplies required to complete your daily tasks
- Ensure all areas are clean and all surfaces are polished (e.g., glass, table top, counters, showers, etc)
- Stage units as per predefined best practice documents (e.g., toiletries, kitchen items, towels etc.)
- Make beds, clean dishes, etc.
- Ensure your assigned suites meet MICRO Boutique quality standards as defined by your assigned Supervisor.
- Perform refreshes as per established best practice documents for guests whose stay surpasses one night
- Ensure all linens are laundered, folded and returned to the assigned locations prior to shift end
Common Areas/Exterior Building Cleaning
- In addition to suite cleanings, the Hotel Cleaner is responsible for ensuring the common areas such as hallways, lobby area and public washrooms remain clean
- Ensure the exterior of the building remains clean by conducting daily inspections of the grounds, sitting areas, balconies, entry points, parking areas, etc.
- Ensure planted shrubs, potted plants, etc., are watered daily and maintained
- Ensure cleaning/supply carts are returned to the appropriate location and prepared for the next shift
3. Education and Knowledge
1. Education (preferred) : Grade 12/GED
2. Certifications (if applicable) : First Aid/CPR (Asset), WHMIS (Asset)
3. Skills and Abilities (preferred): Must be willing to work flexible hours, consisting of days, evenings and weekends and at times work with minimal supervision
4. Professional / Technical Knowledge: You should be poised, organized, tactful, and patient. Interpersonal skills and the ability to deal comfortably with strangers are important. You should be resourceful and able to handle the unexpected. Strong work ethic and attention to detail is also necessary.
5. Equipment: Working with various cleaning supplies and equipment
6. Experience (preferred): Experience in hospitality or customer service would be an asset
7. On-the-Job-Training Time (expected): Varies based on assigned task - to be determined at time of hire
4. Physical Requirements and Environmental Disadvantages: Lifting 25 lbs, working with other team members in a fast-paced environment
